Great Glossy Count 2026: City of Logan
Next date: Saturday, 16 May 2026 | 07:00 AM
to Sunday, 17 May 2026 | 08:00 PM
The Great Glossy Count returns from 16–17 May 2026! Get out into nature over the weekend and help improve our understanding of one of Logan’s threatened bird species — the glossy black‑cockatoo.
Whether you’re a seasoned birder, a landholder keen to help, or simply enjoy being outdoors and spotting birds, everyone is encouraged to take part. You can register solo, with friends or family, or as part of a group. Select a survey site, then head out over the count weekend for an hour (or more) to record sightings of glossy black‑cockatoos, their behaviour, and any signs of feeding or nesting.
The data collected during the count plays an important role in glossy black‑cockatoo conservation, helping to inform actions that protect and improve their habitat.
Learn more by visiting the Great Glossy Count website.
Data collected outside of this weekend is still valuable and can be entered into the Birdata app, iNaturalist or Council’s wildlife sightings database at any time.
