Schools and community organisations are passionate about our local environment. They play a critical role in environmental protection.

Presentations and workshops

Our free Waste Education Program provides presentations and workshops. The presentations allow schools and community groups to learn tips and tricks about minimising waste from our experts. Presentation topics include:

  • Worm farming and composting
  • Recycling and waste management
  • Avoiding single-use plastics

Tours

Schools and community groups can tour the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility. Tours allow visitors to see what happens to household rubbish from the general waste bin (red lid) and recycling bin (yellow lid). 

Learning about how to minimise waste and think of waste as a resource is great for the environment, the local community and your wallet. 

School tours

Schools can apply for one free tour of the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility each year. The tour includes travelling around the facility in a bus. Landfill tours are not suited for students under the age of 12.

Bookings are limited. Please fill out the Logan School and Community Education Program - Expression of Interest form to register your interest.

Clean Up Australia Day

Every year Australia-wide, hundreds of thousands of Australians get stuck in and clean up their local environment by collecting and removing rubbish.

To support our community taking part in Clean Up Australia Day we will accept Clean Up Australia Day bags at our waste and recycling facilities free of charge.

Join over 1 million Australians for Clean Up Australia Day.

You can register or join a clean up site with family, friends and colleagues.

Community groups and organisations, schools, early learning centres and businesses can create a clean up and 'Step Up to Clean Up'. Site supervisors get a free kit containing bags, gloves, information and promotional materials.
