Overview

We understand that the cost of living has become a significant concern for families across Australia. Over the past few years, fluctuations in the economy, inflation and various other factors have contributed to the rising costs of essential goods and services.

Council can be your ally in cutting down on some of these living expenses, thanks to our array of free or low-cost services and facilities. We've compiled a list to help you make the most of these valuable services and facilities around the City of Logan.

Frequency: Yearly in June

LEAF is our community’s opportunity to celebrate everything eco while exploring how we can all reduce, reuse and recycle to create a more sustainable world and future.

Jimboomba Flame Festival

Frequency: Yearly around September

The event features barbecue and other food trucks, fare from local cafes and businesses, eating and cooking competitions, market stalls, live music, fire shows and rides for the youngsters.

Mayor’s Christmas Carols  

A fantastic free community event providing entertainment, live performances, rides, fireworks and family friendly activities to celebrate the holiday season.

Active & Healthy

Active & Healthy is a council supported program offering regular low to no cost fitness and wellness activities across the city. With more than 200 free and low cost activities, there’s something for everyone of all ages.

Parkrun is a free, weekly 5 kilometer run in 6 Logan locations. The runs are open to everyone and are safe and easy to join.

Logan's libraries offer a huge range of kid-friendly activities like robotics, art, craft, coding and more.

Daisy Hill Koala Centre

Logan Art Gallery 

Logan Art Gallery celebrates local talent with a diverse work of visual artists, craftworkers and designers, as well as touring exhibitions from major galleries and national touring bodies.

We offer an extensive range of grants to support arts, sporting endeavours, events and more. We also offer workshops and grant writing lessons to help you through the process.

Property and rates

Free trees

Property owners in Logan can take advantage of our free trees program. We provide a wide range of native and non-native trees at our collection sites for you to plant in your garden.

  • Receive a discount on your rates when you pay early. 
  • Pensioners receive a discount on rates for owner-occupied properties. 
  • Council offers rates payment plans for those experiencing financial challenges.

School holiday activities

KRANK

Keep the kids busy with more than 100 free and low-cost activities for young people aged from 5 to 17, from outdoor sports to the arts, through the KRANK kids and teens school holiday program. Learn more about KRANK activities.

Logan Art Gallery

Small business owners

Our economic development team offer free business support workshops. Support can also be found at our libraries. Search for up-and-coming business courses at Logan Libraries.

Student study support

You can get homework support for students through the Studiosity program. Studiosity is a free online tutoring service for students from Year 3 to TAFE level. It also offers an expert writing feedback service for CVs, essays and reports for people of all ages.

We offer a wide range of cost-effective swimming programs for all ages, from baby classes to competitive squad training.

Tips and waste disposal

All green waste disposal is FREE at Logan waste facilities.

Residential property owners get 4 free waste vouchers each year to dispose of unwanted items. If you don’t have waste vouchers, you can save money by sorting your load before you head to the tip, ensuring recycling materials are separated from general rubbish and green waste. Learn more about sorting your waste
